Asylum seekers over 18 only have the right to aids linked to care that cannot wait, that is, care that cannot wait and emergency care.

 

The Swedish Migration Agency's own adapted accommodation should have the aids needed for daily care.

 

Although the law allows for assistive devices in cases of urgent need, interpretations vary across regions and county councils, and it is common for the need to not be recognized or monitored early enough. This, together with a lack of collaboration and routines, affects access to assistive devices for asylum seekers with disabilities. It is important that the asylum seeker's disability and needs are documented. Since there are practical obstacles, it may be a good idea to contact disability rights organizations for help.
