Care

A health examination is offered free of charge to asylum seekers when they submit their asylum application. An adult seeking asylum in Sweden is entitled to emergency care and care that cannot wait, according to law and practice. This includes care for, for example, life-threatening conditions or conditions that are at risk of quickly becoming serious. The right therefore applies to:

  • Maternity and childbirth care, as well as care in connection with abortion and contraceptive counseling

  • Care according to the Infection Control Act, for example care related to infectious diseases
