School bus

 

The municipality where the child lives is responsible for arranging school transport for children in primary school if necessary, for example if:

 

• the distance to school is long

• the road is dangerous

• the child/youth has a disability that makes it difficult to get to school on their own

 

You contact: The municipality's contact center and ask to be connected to the education administration or the school transport officer. Most municipalities have a special application form for school transport on their website (often under the heading “School transport” or “School trips”).

 

Transport for care

 

Asylum-seeking children/youths have the right to transport to hospitals, health centres, dentists, assistive technology centres, etc. on the same terms as other children/youths in Sweden. The region is responsible for sick leave. If the child cannot travel by public transport due to illness, disability or similar, the caregiver can book sick leave transport. Remember to save all receipts and certificates so that you can receive compensation later if you pay yourself.

 

You contact: Regional sick travel. They can tell you exactly how to book in the region where the child/youth lives. Staff at the accommodation or the Swedish Migration Board can also help.
