Care

A health examination is offered free of charge to you as an asylum seeker when you submit your asylum application. An adult seeking asylum in Sweden has, according to law and practice, the right to emergency care and care that cannot wait. This means care for, for example, life-threatening conditions or conditions that are at risk of quickly becoming serious. This also applies to certain special forms of care such as maternity care, abortion, dental care that cannot wait and care for infectious diseases according to the Infection Control Act.

Contact: The Region's 1177 Care Guide and explain the condition and that it concerns an asylum-seeking adult over 18 years of age. You will then be referred to the correct reception. Staff at the accommodation or the Swedish Migration Board can also help. In the event of a life-threatening condition, call 112.

Remember: You need to show your LMA card when contacting healthcare. Adult asylum seekers are entitled to reduced patient fees for healthcare. Therefore, save all receipts so that you can receive reimbursement later. Staff at your accommodation can help you fill out the application for this.
